When you raise up leaders in your ministry area; leaders, coaches, or lead coaches, it is important to label them in People. Periodically, lists are run to find all of these leaders, and the ministry and campus they are serving is part of the information that is considered.
There is a Leadership tab (1.) on each profile in People. On that tab, under a section called Leadership (2.) each ministry is listed with a drop-down option. To add a leader or coach label for one of your volunteers, go to the Leadership tab on the individual's profile and click on the "Edit answers" button (3.) at the top right to make changes.
Browse the alpha list of ministries to find your ministry area. Use the drop-down menu (4.) to select the correct level of leadership for this individual.
Once you have made your selection, be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the window and SAVE (7.) the change. Confirm that your entry is saved as expected.
That's it! You've tracked a Coach so that when lists are run, this individual will be counted.
Don't forget, however, to remove a leadership label if the volunteer stops serving in this capacity. The first step is the reverse of what you just did. You go to your ministry area and use the drop-down to change the selection back to the blank option (no answer given will show on the page).
The second step is to record the inactive leadership. Once the former leader's ministry label is removed there is nothing left to show the past leadership, so two sections were added at the bottom of the Leadership section for this purpose. You scroll down below the ministry areas to find Inactive Coach (5.) and Inactive Leader (6.) This is a simple checkbox field and multiple checks are possible.
You would add the appropriate check for inactive coach or leader as appropriate. Then be sure to Save. (7.) After you save, only the checked fields display on the individual's page.
These inactive fields are important because they allow you to pull a list of past leaders or past coaches when you find yourself in a season where you need extra help. It is also an indication of leadership potential when you are raising up a leader in a new ministry area.
